Crave the Change concentrates their policy work in Central Minnesota while working with partners throughout the state to advance efforts to decrease tobacco’s harm all across Minnesota.

We are part of a coalition of leading healthcare, public health and other organizations from around the state who make up Minnesotans for Smoke-Free Generation.

We share a common goal of saving Minnesota’s youth from a lifetime of tobacco addiction, through four strategies:


Raising the Tobacco Age to 21

One of our key initiatives is raising awareness about how raising the tobacco age to 21 will save lives here in Central Minnesota and all across the state.

Keeping Prices High

We also focus on keeping tobacco prices high – tax cuts make tobacco products easier for young people to purchase. And high prices encourage current tobacco users to quit.

Restricting the Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products

Menthol, candy and fruit-flavored tobacco products are attractive to kids and can lead to a lifetime of tobacco addiction and disease. Restricting their sale to adult only stores would help keep kids from starting to use these tobacco products.

Funding tobacco prevention program

Tobacco prevention efforts are proven way to reduce tobacco use, especially among populations specifically targeted by the tobacco industry, including youth and diverse communities.
